DVD Commentary Challenge, With a Twist

Oh! I forgot to mention!

I was on a panel with [info]jinjurly , in which we started somehow discussing the dialogue between writer and reader in fanfiction, and how we are in a lucky position as writers to have a very open dialogue with our readers, and how fanfiction is special in this way and this dialogue should be encouraged and nurtured. She shared with me the fact that she is right now organizing a DVD Commentary Challenge. Now, this is a bit different from the commentary memes I've done, in that it's the reader's job to do the commentary here. This is your prime opportunity to pick one of my fics and absolutely tear it into itty, bitty pieces of whatever shape and design you deem proper. I've already signed up. Other authors on my f-list (and off my f-list who are just stumbling across this), you should totally go sign up, too! I think this could be tons of fun for an author! Readers! Sign up! Tell me what you loved! Tell me what you hated! Tell me what you still don't get! And, at the very least, go join the community [info]dvd_commentary and enjoy yourself by reading along!

P.S. And now I will post fic, I promise.

Ooh, I'll Play!

Because it's not like I didn't just post something about how many posts I have to post. Instead, I'll post this post, which is a meme. (Have I set a record for the word "post" in one line yet? No?)

Stolen specifically from [info]unfolded73.

Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post. Possibly with pictures.

20 First Lines

Another one stolen from unfolded73. I've always wanted to do one of these, to see if there's a pattern in my fics (It turns out: not really), and I'm putting off going to bed. The first lines of the 20 most recent fics I've posted, in reverse chronological order:

1. The TARDIS had crash-landed, and the Doctor was glancing around the tunnel they were in, taking stock, when there was a sudden commotion, startling all of them. (The Doctor's Daughters)
2. “Chicken pox?” echoed the Doctor. (Human Illnesses)
3. He should get her flowers. (Romantic Instincts)
4. Fortuna Tyler was bored. (The Egg of the Hsip, the Holy Bird of Dinglehopper)
5. In the first flush of the realization that the TARDIS had linked her and the Doctor, would keep them together through an indefinitely long period of time, Rose was giddy. (Improvise)
6. Rose, finally emerging from the bathroom, freshly coiffed and dressed to the nines, nonetheless paused to take fresh stock of herself in the mirror. (New New Year)
7. There had been a time when his TARDIS had always been this quiet. (Evasive Maneuvers)
8. The thing was that it shouldn’t have hurt her as much as it did. (A Cross Between a Fish and a Chair)
9. “I think,” said Rose, “we should have dinner with Athena’s boyfriend.” (Meeting the Family)
10. Some bars, thought Chuck Bass, were better than others. (Words Out Loud)
11. Rose’s mobile was ringing. (Pleasure Cruise)
12. “Tell me about one,” said Kate, and Brem looked over at her in surprise. (Home)
13. Rose Tyler fell asleep in the warmth of a sun in an unblemished sky but woke to an increasing overcast and a faint greenness to the air that had her sitting up in alarm. (Storm)
14. They stood and watched the TARDIS de-materialized, with its rush of wind and its distinctive noise. (Pete's World Redux)
15. The Doctor had traveled with many companions over the years. (Flirting)
16. The lifespan of Barcelonan dogs was not something the Doctor was an expert in--he was far more worried about the lifespan of certain other beings in the universe--and so he wasn't sure whether the age of eight was a particularly short life for a Barcelonan dog or just an average one or maybe even an amazingly long one. (The Death of Madrid)
17. There were days when Brem just stood and stared up at Canary Wharf. (A Canary Wharf Anniversary)
18. What did you do the day after you kissed Rose Tyler? (The Day After You Kiss Rose Tyler)
19. "What day is it?" asked Rose, abruptly, from where she stood by the open refrigerator door. (Things Continue to Progress)
20. They often traveled now with the TARDIS on random, content to drift from adventure to adventure aimlessly. (Getting to Fly)
