It's true, Matt has had a long time to think about it. And you're right that he's made his peace with it.
"Unflappable" is an excellent way to describe Matt. That's totally how he is. (Until, as you point out, he *shouldn't* be. But he's pretty easy-going, in general.)
And yes, you're right, he does a lot of studying up on it. He's about to father some Gallifreyans, after all, which makes it even more pressing. ;-) He's a doctor, he's a natural caretaker, he wants to be able to comfort his kids when they get fevers and such, in the capable, comforting, comprehensive, doctor-y way.
