Oooh, so is the Steinwayverse roughly accurate? I was so, so, so taken with Arthur's pianist feelings, at the way the author wrote his emotions about playing and music and his instrument and everything. It made me wish so desperately that I was a musician.

I've given a lot of thought to why they work so well, no matter where you put them. All great OTPs must have something to do with two archetypes slotting together well. Except that I find Arthur and Eames so hard to categorize that simply. Like, maybe, "wisecracking thief with the heart of gold" and "responsible control freak with a sly sense of humor"? I don't know.
