I saw Inception years ago, and liked it, but I admit I don't remember it very well, or any of the characters within. And instead of watching it again to prep for your story, I thought..."Well, let's see what happens if I just read EGT's story without watching the movie, as a sort of experiment."

(This is probably a nicer experiment than using dubious sugar in your tea.)

So just to warn you, I'm coming in mostly blind. I'm not even sure what the characters look like.

I'm not sure how I felt about the first chapter, other than I was confused what was going on (which is partially why I didn't leave a review for it). I think it's only now, that Eames and Arthur are in the same room, that I'm really beginning to look forward to the rest, because their banter is so funny, and so obviously full of their regard and affection-masked-as-annoyance for each other. I also think it's hysterical that the affection is obvious to everyone but either of them. (Everyone being us and Mycroft Holmes. And possibly Dom Cobb. Who I just typed as Dom Croft, which both shows how much I don't know the Inception part of the story and also will make you laugh if Dom is anything like Mycroft. Or not.)

I love that Eames called Arthur and was using such a ridiculous, obvious code to warn him off, and that Arthur got it and decided to ignore it. Actually, I don't think he so much as decided as it was a quid pro quo thing: "Eames is in trouble (the idiot) and now I shall go and get him out of it." And Eames both appreciating and not appreciating it - because of course he does want Arthur there, while at the same time he doesn't. His little digs about what's in Arthur's notebook, and waking up Arthur, and being supremely jealous of suitcases.

(OMG, Eames, you had a whole hour to look through those suitcases before Arthur woke up. I'm kind of surprised you didn't do it then, even if Arthur hadn't caressed them so fondly.)

What I'm trying to say very inadequately is that as always with you, it's the characters' interactions that I find to be the thing that pulls me into the story. I want to see Arthur and Eames banter together some more, about anything, really, and I'm already looking forward to the scene in which they realize they are madly in love with each other, because I want to know if they're going to backpedal from it (which wouldn't surprise me, actually) or if they're going to say "to hell with it" and kiss each other anyway.

(Or both. I can see these two doing both, simultaneously.)

Okay. I'm ready for more. (Also I'm curious what Moriarty's dreams are like.) Bring it on!
