Athena folded her arms and frowned.
“What’s the matter?” the Doctor asked her, confused. “Don’t you like the zoo?”
“I do not approve of that,” she pointed.
“It’s a peacock,” he said, even more confused. He knew his clever daughter knew what a peacock was.
“Peacocks are beautiful. Peahens are dull. Why?” she demanded. “I bet the girl wants to be really pretty, too.”
The Doctor could have explained about mating habits and such but that seemed a bit much for a four-year-old. Even his four-year-old.
“I think they’re just showoffs,” continued Athena.
“Men frequently are,” said her mother, dryly.
