They didn’t fight often. Far less frequently than Greg had thought they would. Mycroft was a careful and generous compromiser, swayed by convincing and persuasive arguments. Greg had had a tempestuous marriage. He found his relationship with the most powerful man in the country to be oddly tranquil.
“We don’t fight much,” Greg remarked once.
“Is that disappointing to you?”
“No. But I thought I should check to make sure you weren’t holding all your grievances inside.”
“I’m not. And you shouldn’t be surprised: Contrary to what Sherlock might tell you, my job is to resolve fights before they occur.”
