Sherlock said they had to keep the birds because they were evidence. Four calling birds and two turtledoves. Naturally the task of taking care of them fell to John.
“We’re taking them with us to my mother’s for Christmas,” Sherlock decided.
“Yes, definitely what I thought that occasion needed was bird-related chaos,” drawled John.
“I’m going to prove that she sent them to us. I’ve had enough of this Father Christmas nonsense.”
“If Father Christmas is listening, I believe in him.”
Sherlock glared at him.
“What?” said John. “I don’t want to destroy my chances at more presents this year.”
