Aw, this is so lovely! Very "one little flame dispelling the darkness" and all. And can I just tell you I actually got goosebumps when he called her name? It was the way you did it, just that single word, in italics...I could just hear it, in my mind, like a stone dropped into water. Simply wonderful!
