The End of the Holiday

earlgreytea68How awesome are holidays? They are the best invention ever. I would not do well in that age when no one got any time off, because I love it. And Thanksgiving is just such a great holiday, because it's only purpose is to force you to carve out time to appreciate what you have in life.
We had Thanksgiving at my apartment, which was an entirely new experience and I think worked out well. Of course, it entailed my family dragging basically their whole kitchen to my apartment, as I am in no way qualified to cook anything at all. But I love to have people around the house, and it was fun to do the typical Things We Do When My Family Comes to Visit. You know, move every piece of furniture I own to a different spot. Fix or frown at the various broken things I own. Stuff of that nature.
The turkey, as usual, took an astonishingly short amount of time to cook. It took practically the same length of time to persuade the potatoes to boil for the mashed potatoes. My mother, who, each time she makes stuffing, makes The Best Stuffing Ever, once again surpassed her last stuffing. My aunt made this asparagus wrapped in prosciutto that was tremendous. My grandmother wanted to eat dessert immediately for some reason, and set out all the desserts, but we were distracted by a game of Cranium, and my grandmother then started putting the dessert back. And then out again. Yeah, it was entertaining. We then played Balderdash through dessert (my mother's guess for C.A.P.S.: Calories Are Pounds, Silly).
And then we packed everything up and drove back to Rhode Island. It was a bit of a hair-raising drive, mostly because the City of Brookline suddenly decided that we are no longer allowed to turn left at the light after my house, so I had to go up to the next light, which wasn't working, and, as a consequence, I nearly got hit by the T. Exciting! My life is a thrill a minute!
