In response to this meme, [personal profile] principia_cohasked for the Top 5 things that happened at Writercon. Brilliant idea, actually.

1. I arrive. Before my panel. Because, honestly, that was VERY touch-and-go. I am hoping to catch up this weekend and be able to share the tale of this journey with all of you in detail, but it involved twelve hours from the time I left work to the time I walked into the hotel in Minneapolis; an unexpected side trip to Atlanta; no fewer than four phone calls to various people in which I just broke down in sobs because I am a complete emotional wreck at all times; several other phone calls in which there were no sobs but just righteous indignation; four shouting matches with AirTran personnel; waiting in line with two different airlines; three terminals at Logan; six different boarding passes; numerous e-mails to very patient friends who helped me out by staying calm in the face of my utter hysteria; and two PHENOMENAL sisters and a next-door neighbor who stayed planted in front of their computers until they were sure I was well on my way to tricking AirTran into getting me to my destination in a timely fashion. It takes a village to get EGT to travel anywhere.

2. I babble to a room devoid of DW fans about how cute DT is when he says the word "awesome."

3. [livejournal.com profile] jlrpuck, [livejournal.com profile] chicklet73, and I stumble upon a British pub for dinner, where I think we probably alarm the bartender by debating the best qualities of Brem Tyler and Peter Carlisle and possibly also the writing of smut. (I don't remember. I was drunk.)

4. jlrpuck convinces me to buy THE WORLD'S AWESOMEST BOOK. (More on that later, too. I AM SUCH A TEASE.)

5. I demand we sit right in the front row for a panel that turns out to involve the showing, on a big screen, of a fanvid with David Tennant in it. (Apparently, that fanvid isn't on YouTube but has to be downloaded, so I fail at linking it. I will say it involves Jack being pregnant and telling Ten about it. And also that David Tennant looks hot in it.)

4. *does the I TOLD YOU SO dance*
5. You forgot to mention that the vid was set to "Papa Don't Preach", only enhancing the sheer WTF-awesomeness of it (it's Google-able, btw--search the song title and "Greensilver")

ETA: FIRST? REALLY? That's...no small feat, with your fan army. Go me!

There is always a travel horror story or two coming out of Writercon. I'm sorry you were this year's It girl!

And the link to the most awesome video ever (a.k.a. Papa Don't Preach the DW/TW WTF version) is here: http://fan-eunice.livejournal.com/87862.html

I'm so glad to have had the (very brief) chance to meet you! The downside of con planning is not actually getting to, you know, enjoy the con.

;)

I'm really looking forward to hearing the Writercon tale of woe. I followed your tweets that day, and it sounded like a tough time, and then some, getting to Minneapolis. But from your teasing report, it sounds like you girls had tons of fun :D

Ooh, "Brit's Pub"?? I assume it was "Brit's Pub". At any rate, <3 <3
Otherwise, I wish I could have gone to WriterCon , if only for number 2. I would have been the giggling freak in the back. Alas, I am not a writer, nor did I have the cash. I'm ever so glad you had a good time, despite the horrific time you had actually getting this far north....

Yes! It was Brit's! It was so awesome! We bought T-shirts!

WriterCon was very fun, even if *very* difficult to get to.

#3 brings to mind the time the trail riding group met for lunch at a pizza place. Two of the members were trading bridles and reins. The look on our waiter's face, who was obviously a city kid was priceless. He thinks we're probably the PTA or something and two of us are exchanging things made of narrow strips of leather. Priceless.

Here's to freaking out the restaurant staff!
