Brem hadn’t brought a girl home since Kate.

The girls teased him for being a Time Lord about town, as they put it. But Rose met none of his girlfriends. Which didn’t really bother her. Brem’s relationships never lasted long.

She suspected that his string of ex-girlfriends would label him of commitment-phobic. The Doctor attributed it to Brem’s inherited wanderlust, the inability to be in one place for too long.

Rose knew the truth: Brem desperately longed to make a commitment. His wanderlust was a constant search for the woman who could still him. Like father, thought Rose, like son.

Oh, this was so lovely! Speaking of, do you have any desire to continue "Brem's Eleventh Hour"? Or did you finish it when I wasn't looking? :-)

I did not finish it. I really should, eventually, someday. The Amy we have now is so very different than the Amy I was going to put with Brem that now it feels all a mess to me!

It *is* a bit sad, but I think it's mostly bittersweet. Because I don't think Brem is at all really unhappy. He has a great family and he knows that he's loved. I think sometimes he's a bit lonely, but I also think he'd rather be a bit lonely than sometimes than have a person around who isn't compatible with him, you know? Brem just knows what he wants. Or hopes that he does, at least.

Brem is totally his father's son, no matter how much he tries to deny it. I am loving these drabbles- so much fun!!

The fact that he tries to deny it so much is what makes him even more like his dad, I think! Glad you're enjoying the drabbles!

Me too. Lovely and sad. I do hope you get him sorted out one day!

Oh, I will. I never really worry about Brem. Like his father once said, the universe will cower and whimper if it ever tries to cross him. He'll get his way in the end, I promise.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! This was a fun one to write because it's basically a character study.

Poor Brem. This was very sweet. I hope he'll find someone eventually.

This is excellent. I love the look into Brem's character through the eyes of his mother. He is so much like his father.

Which his mother is really in the best position to see.

D:

This totally broke my heart - especially since its the same way I feel about Ten. I have never really forgiven the Whoniverse for letting him get his happy ending with Rose (not the Time Lord version anyway) and to see the same thing happening to Brem...

So sad! But a gorgeous snippet nonetheless. Thank you for sharing it with us darling.

But Brem will get a happy ending! I promise! It just takes him longer to get there than it takes his sisters. And he isn't really unhappy now, he's just not as completely satisfied as he could be.

I'm very glad to hear that :P experience shows me that in this 'verse at least, people do get their happy endings, or something close. It's just something that makes me sad about the show sometimes :( sometimes I forget that fic and the show aren't one and the same I think lolllll.

I knew this before you said it. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if Brem was 900 years old before he finally found the one.

It wouldn't surprise me, either!

This is very Brem. And Rose is of course perceptive enough to see it. Poor Brem.

(Can Aurelia be The One?? Pretty please?)

Well, think about it. Fortuna's guy is from the future, Theenie's is from the present, so why not a girl for Brem from the extreme past? He's already past the "bigger on the inside" bit with her...

Oh this is so thought provoking and wistful and even, in an odd, predictive way, happy.

Also, it should be noted that Brem's wonder-filled wanderlust would be perfectly suited to a girl popping up in multiple time periods, but mostly just waiting to be found in the early 21st century. Not that I am being pushy, of course. ;-)
