Advent Drabbles Sign-Up Post!
Nov. 29th, 2013 04:27 pmIt is ALREADY that time of year again. WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?
I know it's fashionable to be cynical about Thanksgiving--and God knows we Americans do plenty to make us cynical about it--but I actually really love the idea, as perverted as it's become, that we should all take a day out of our lives to acknowledge the things we're grateful for. I, as usual, am grateful for all of YOU. You are, all of you, the best group of readers (and, if this is appropriate, betas and Britpickers) ever, and you're so very patient with how long it takes me to get to the comments (which, I am so far behind right now that there might have to just be a Clearing Of The Board comment-wise so that my inbox can get below 1,000 -- I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENS, YOU GUYS). Anyway, thanks for being a light in my life. It may take me forever to reply, but I love every comment, and I love getting to know you through the comments, and I love that you love my words, because you keep me going when "real" life gets a little sloggy. If you know what I mean by that made-up word. So, again, thanks for being excellent friends. Here, have a virtual hug: ::hug::
And, as a gesture of my gratitude, I am inviting you to sign up for an Advent drabble! The first 24 people to leave a one-word prompt in a comment to this entry will get a drabble of their very own, posted one each day in December until Christmas. A one-word prompt is all that I ask, but, if you like, you can request specific characters/'verses.
(Also, as an aside, last year I wrote a Terrible Holiday Movie Starring John and Sherlock, only it, as mostly happens with my stuff, ended up being longer than I expected and I didn't finish it until February. So, if you'd like to read a Sherlock Christmas story during the actual Christmas season, I humbly direct you to John Watson's Twelve Days of Christmas.)

Date: 2013-11-29 09:37 pm (UTC)Edited because squeeeeeeeeeee! I'm in the first 24 comments! :D (Let's not dwell on the fact that I remembered you had sent your Advent Drabbles Sign-Up Post the day after Thanksgiving last year and I took many looks at my inbox today because I didn't want to be too late this year. Ahem.) Anyway, I was in such a hurry that I forgot to say I'd like the drabble to be Sherlock/John, please. And, er, I mean "fire" as in "the cosy thing in the fireplace", no as in "arson" or "to be under fire". Fluff please, not angst! :D
P.S. It's only fair if our comments cheer you up because your fics make us so happy, they're so heart-warming, Nature and Nurture especially; every new chapter is a treat. There's no Thanksgiving in France but I'm grateful for your fics, they're feel-good stories! And John Watson's Twelve Days of Christmas is a must-read at Christmas time. :-)
