The first time Zuko saw Katara, he knew she didn’t think he’d seen her. But he did. In those days, it took an incredible effort to make an impression on Zuko if you weren’t the avatar, and Katara had managed it.
Not that Zuko thought about it then.
The first time Zuko spoke to Katara, he was still focused mostly on the avatar.
But the first time Zuko kissed Katara – then he was focused on nothing but her. And after, for the first time, Zuko began to think about how there really was life after all of this.
Their life.
