Sherlock didn’t believe in coincidences. The universe was rarely so lazy.
So it always irritated Sherlock told him he was lucky to find John. Sherlock had mentioned needing a flatmate to Mike Stamford because Mike was tolerable enough to have acceptable acquaintances. No luck required.
“But wasn’t it luck that we ran into each other in the park?” John asked.
“Predictable,” said Sherlock. “You were bound to cross paths again after you returned to London.”
“Still,” said John, “I like to think of our meeting as a fortunate happenstance.”
John had a romantic streak. Sherlock decided not to fight it.
