Patrick wants to finish his dissertation in peace, but Professor Wentz won’t let him. Wentz isn’t even in his department. It’s infuriating.
“It’s stupid,” Wentz tells him.
“It’s music theory,” Patrick says sulkily. “You’re a professor of marketing. You’re not qualified to—”
“You’re wasting your life, Trickster,” Wentz says confidently. “Any idiot can get their Ph.D.”
“The opposite of that is true.”
“A person with your musical talent—”
“I’m a repetitive, shallow lyricist and I hate being the center of attention.”
“Lucky you,” Wentz grins. “I write poetry, and I love attention.”
Patrick considers. “Is your poetry good?”
