Advent Drabble 4 - Fall

Pete thinks in metaphors, so it’s ironic that the first time he falls for Patrick, it’s literal: He literally falls down the steps into Patrick’s basement. He falls into Patrick, a couple of steps below, who says, “Ow, what the fuck,” and manages to keep his balance.

“Sorry, sorry,” Pete says, “I tripped.”

Patrick just looks so exceedingly unimpressed by him.

Later, Pete tries to tell him, earnestly, “That fall was a metaphor. It was a physical manifestation of what my heart was doing, falling at your feet.”

Patrick says he’s ridiculous, but he can tell that Patrick believes him.

Awww... (Also I hope that Patrick's reaction was not a physical manifestation of what his heart was doing because looking exceedingly unimpressed didn't bode well. On the other hand, he said "Fuck" so perhaps that boded well after all.)
