Advent Drabble 22 - Lullaby

Ever since childhood, Patrick has always written songs endlessly. Nowadays he tends to write to Pete’s specifications. A song that sounds like the last day of school. A song that sounds like my mom’s apple pie.

Patrick writes them all, but he doesn’t think any of them are what Pete needs. He works on the song he thinks Pete really needs whenever he can steal a minute.

Eventually, it’s done, and he unveils it on a night when Pete really needs it. He sings it soft and soothing, until Pete stills and sleeps. There it is, Patrick thinks. A lullaby.
